Our work
Family Worx
Family Worx, brings together our experience in the delivery of evidence-based programs (FFT-CW and SafeCare) and evidence informed practice (Common Elements).
OzChild is delivering a new Family Preservation and Restoration service in the areas of Western Melbourne, Brimbank Melton and the Goulburn region. The State Government’s investment in this new initiative is a response to the forecast increase in the number of vulnerable families arising during the COVID pandemic. The program, called Family Worx, brings together our experience in the delivery of evidence-based programs (FFT-CW and SafeCare) and evidence informed practice (Common Elements).
The Family Worx model is based on two stages – Initial intensive phase followed by sustainable period:
- Carried out by the Family Preservation and Reunification (FPR) practitioner
- Low caseloads working intensively with families (24/7, on call)
- Based on individual family’s needs , they can access SafeCare and FFT-CW with the aim of promoting ongoing sustainability in the second phase.
Family Worx is defined by flexibility to respond to the needs of families, it is culturally safe and responsive, it uses evidence informed interventions and is focussed on outcomes namely the preservation of families and supporting parents so that reunification can occur and it is sustainable since children, youth and families have a right to grow up in families that are nurturing, supported and …ultimately self-determining!
