Family Law Services
Family law services help focus parents, grandparents and carers on the best interests of their children.
Our family law program works with parents and other care givers before and after separation to improve their relationships, reach agreements and see and maintain contact with children in a safe way.
Warrnambool Family Relationship Centre (FRC)
The Warrnambool Family Relationship Centre is a hub for family law services. It is an inclusive and responsive space that services parents, grandparents, and other caregivers.
- We are a referral hub and we identify the right referrals for parents
- We care about safety and meet with clients individually before mediation so that we can ensure their safety when accessing our service
- We offer parent information/education so that separated parents and caregivers have better relationships and can stay focused on their children
- We offer mediation so that parents, grandparents and carers can talk about their children’s care and wellbeing, make decisions about them, and make agreements
- We offer S60i certificates for parents who need to make an application to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
Property Dispute Resolution
Property Dispute Resolution is a program that assists separating couples to reach agreements for property division.
This process will:
- Give you information about property settlement
- Help you identify the list of assets and liabilities
- Help you make decisions about the value of assets and liabilities
- Help you make decisions about how the assets and liabilities will be divided
- Provide you with a written agreement about the agreed outcome of the mediation.
Regional Family Dispute Resolution
Regional Family Dispute Resolution is a mediation and counselling program that works in outreach areas in South-West Victoria, including Portland, Hamilton, Camperdown and Warrnambool.
- We are a referral hub and identify the right referrals for parents
- We offer counselling for relationship difficulties and grief/loss relating to separation
- We care about safety and meet with people individually before mediation so that we can understand their situation and ensure their safety when accessing our service
- We offer parent information/education so that separated parents, grandparents and caregivers have better relationships and can stay focused on their children’s best interests
- We offer mediation so that parents, grandparents and caregivers can talk about their children, make decisions about them, and make agreements
- We offer S60i certificates for parents who need to make an application to the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
Children’s Contact Service
The Children’s Contact Service Warrnambool is a safe and neutral place for children to spend time with the parent or family member/s they don’t live with.
The service:
- Allows children of separated families, who may be experiencing high levels of conflict or concerns for safety, to have contact with the family member they don’t live with
- Provides facilitated change over and supervised contact visits
- Works with separated families to transition to self-management of contact arrangements
- Promote positive parenting during contact
- Writes reports as requested, fees apply.
Post-Separation Cooperative Parenting Program/Parenting Orders Program
This service works with individuals and groups that require additional support to transition from our services to self-management. Parents, grandparents and carers, regardless of who the child lives or spends time with, are supported to develop new skills and strategies to enhance co-operative parenting.
- Individual or group parenting education
- Counselling
- Brief case management that supports parents, grandparents and carers to access services and then transition to self-management
- Family dispute resolution
- Internal and external referrals as required.
