Resilience: a story of survival

A message of hope, recovery, and resilience, Resilience: a story of survival is the personal story of Shane Bautista and his struggles in overcoming a traumatic childhood and building a future for himself.

During his childhood, Shane spent time in foster care with OzChild foster carer Joan Graham whom he formed a strong bond with and still sees regularly.

Now a mental health nurse, Shane has not only been an advocate for mental health issues but also for recruiting foster carers for the increasing number of children in need of care.

“I truly believe my story that I am sharing will help provide hope and resilience to current youth in foster care, current foster carers and help in the recruitment of new foster carers. It will also help people struggling with mental illness, sexuality, grief/loss, and inspire my fellow LGBTIQ+ and the wider community”.

Resilience: a story of survival is being self-published by Shane and is due to be released 15 July, 2019
