Neville Turner, a former board member, President and life member of OzChild passed away on Thursday 19 April.
He served on the OzChild Board from 1994-2004 and was President from 1994-1998.
During that time he was an integral part of setting up both Upper Murray Family Care (UMFC) and Mallee Family Care (MFC), whom we have partnered with on many occasions. Up until more recent years, Neville was a devoted attendee at OzChild’s Annual General Meetings as one of the charity’s few Life Members.
On hearing news of his passing, former Chief Executive Officer, the Reverend John Taylor recalled Neville with much fondest and as a man of exceptional talent being both an academic and musician.
Neville was also founding President of the National Children’s Bureau of Australia (which OzChild also founded).
Born in Bury, Lancashire, Neville moved to Australia in 1965. In his role as a lawyer, Neville worked as a Senior Lecturer at Monash University until his retirement and was also a co-author on several books on family law.
He was a lover of cricket, tennis and football and a talented jazz pianist.
Neville is survived by his ex-wife and two sons.
OzChild will farewell this great man who made a significant and lasting contribution to its history at his funeral.
