National Redress Scheme

OzChild Statement on the National Redress Scheme

In July 2018 the government introduced the National Redress Scheme in response to recommendations by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Scheme started on 1 July 2018 and will run for 10 years.

OzChild welcomes the scheme and recognises the help it will provide to people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse to gain access to compensation, along with counselling and psychological services.

OzChild is currently progressing through The Department of Social Service’s internal clearance process of entry into the Scheme, likely to be complete first quarter of the 2020 calendar year.
