OzChild recently welcomed specialist trainer Dr Michael Robbins from Functional Family Therapy LLC to Melbourne.
Dr Robbins was in Australia to deliver training sessions for OzChild’s new Functional Family Therapy – CW® (FFT-CW) teams. The teams will be based in Mitcham in the Outer East region and Shepperton in the Goulburn region of Victoria
The FFT-CW program uses a holistic approach to addressing issues affecting families facing vulnerability. By addressing these issues collaboratively families are supported to take practical actions to reduce the risk of their children (aged 0-17 years) entering care.
Dr Robbins is a senior scientist at the Oregon Research Institute and Director of Research for Functional Family Therapy Inc. He has extensive experience conducting clinical research on family therapy with drug using, delinquent adolescents and their families. He has directly overseen the training of hundreds of family therapists, both nationally and internationally.
Both teams have recently received their first referrals of families.
