Could you be the difference a child needs?
Scroll down to enquiry form ↓We’re currently looking for individuals, or couples from all nationalities and backgrounds who are interested in becoming specialised foster carers or those wishing to care for a child long-term.
Long-term carers are vital in providing the stability and permanency so many children need and crave. Committing to care long-term for a child or young person means they don’t have to move from one family to another anymore – it means they can finally unpack their bag and focus on being a child, without the worry of where they might end up next.
As a long-term foster carer, you will provide a safe and loving home for a child aged between 7-11 who would otherwise have nowhere else to go. You will be able to make a significant difference in a child’s life as they will stay with you until they reach the age of 18.
As a long-term carer, you will receive from $545 per fortnight to help cover the cost of things like food, bills and clothing.
The child you will be caring for will have just graduated from OzChild’s Queensland Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) program also known as specialised foster care. This program is an internationally proven behaviour change program that provides intensive support for children with trauma backgrounds over a 9-12 month period. This means we have spent nine months teaching these kids the life skills they need in order to function at school, at home and in the community, while addressing a lot of the challenging behaviours they have developed living away from home.
The aim of the TFCO program is reuniting children with their biological family (including next of kin) or placing them with lower intensity long-term foster carers (yes, that would be you).
We are also looking for specialised foster carers in our TFCO program which we run in Vic, Qld, NSW and SA. As a specialised foster carer, your role is to provide a safe and positive living environment that facilitates learning and exposes children to activities and situations they might not have experienced before – like brushing their teeth, eating dinner as a family at the table, or simply being praised for the nice things they’re doing, like using their manners which is often completely new for some kids.

Want to learn more about becoming a long-term carer?
Please fill in your details below and we will send you some information via email and some dates for upcoming virtual information sessions. We use Microsoft Teams for these info sessions, so you can join from the comfort of your own home. You will learn more about the program, the kids and the approval process. You will also hear from one of our current carers, who will share their experiences and the differences they’ve made with some of the most vulnerable kids in the community.
If you live in Queensland, have time, can provide a safe and loving home, and are passionate about helping kids in your community, we would love to hear from you.
