OzChild is one of only five Community Service Organisations who are invited to the Aboriginal Children’s Forum (ACF) each quarter.
At the February meeting, OzChild proudly announced its first transfer of Aboriginal children from its foster and kinship care program to Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency (VACCA). The ACF applauded the announcement as it was recognised as the first in the state.
OzChild has been able to complete this successful transfer due to the ongoing commitment of its staff and carers in both the kinship and foster care programs to self-determination and a child’s right to cultural identity and connection. This work is ongoing as OzChild remains committed to moving all children and young people over to the care of VACCA in the coming years.
A moment in history and OzChild’s continued commitment to reconciliation.
