Every job at OzChild is a responsible one - whatever your role, its ultimate goal will be to protect and build better futures for Australia's children. Every staff member, every volunteer, every carer is dedicated to this purpose.
Carers and volunteers make up the majority of our workforce and are essential for provision of our services to children, youth and families. Our services are provided in the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.
What is the difference between an OzChild Volunteer and an OzChild Carer?
Volunteering
Volunteers are essential for the running of our services and are highly valued. We aim to respect and support our volunteers in achieving their personal goals, while providing professional support.
- Volunteers spend as little as two hours a week on casual basis, or take part in more structured part time or full time programs.
- You'll be working with children and their birth families.
- You will see children in their family home or could see them in the home of another volunteer. You will not provide overnight care
- You will not be reimbursed for costs associated with caring for the children
There are also other opportunities for volunteers, such as tutoring or driving to help children in care.
Benefits of volunteering

Volunteers are required to be 16 years or older, depending on the program and to commit to a minimum of two hours contact each week.
