Fiona's mother contacted Oz Child Family Solutions seeking counselling for her daughter, Fiona, a 22-year-old single mother who had recently moved to the Peninsula.  Fiona who had a long history of depression, was having difficulty coping with the current situation.

An emergency appointment was made to see the counsellor, who was very concerned about the level of Fiona's emotional distress.  Fiona was exhausted, anxious, isolated and house-bound.  She also hadn't commenced anti-depressant medication prescribed by her doctor.

Apart from providing counselling, the counsellor also suggested that a Family Solutions volunteer could help Fiona access local resources and meet people.

As a result of the counselling and family support provided to Fiona she now has a positive outlook and a nurturing relationship with her child.
