The Family Options program provides long term, full time, permanent alternative family care for children with a severe disability who can no longer remain with their families.  The child's birth family is encouraged to maintain an ongoing role in the child's life.

OzChild is at the forefront of providing young people living with a disability with a family based care option that promotes the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships.

Our Family Options Program provides quality support to host families ensuring young people with a disability are able to maintain a community based placement in a safe and supportive home environment.

The service involves the voluntary placement of a child, or young person with a disability, with a screened and assessed voluntary alternative family who provides care and support in their own home.  This can include shared care and full time arrangements.

Family Options is a DHS funded and monitored program offered for those who are unable to live permanently with their birth families and is usually for children where there are no child protection orders involved.

All referrals to Family Options, Southern Region are managed by the Victorian Department of Human Services, Disability Client Services Intake and Response, Cheltenham.  Please contact DHS on (03) 8585 6000 for referral.
