The Circle program

Children come into OzChild’s care through referral from the Victorian Department of Human Services.  Some children in Foster care need more intensive, specialised care because of their previous damaging life experiences.

OzChild works in partnership with Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) and DHS to deliver a therapeutic foster care program called the Circle program. Therapeutic carers

• are offered training in addition to that for regular foster carers including an additional assessment
• provide a healing environment to enable children heal from abuse and trauma
• have a preparedness to commit to a child’s placement as long as required
• have an integrated team approach and support of a therapeutic specialist from the ACF
