OzChild has a long and proud history. While the name of the organisation is relatively new, OzChild has been caring for children at risk and in need since 1851. Today's organisation was created in July 1993 when three long established child welfare agencies - Family Action, Family Focus and the National Children's Bureau of Australia - amalgamated to form OzChild Children Australia Inc. The following books on histories of OzChild are available from our Head Office: Asylum to Action 1851- 1991by historian Donella Jaggs, covers the history of The Melbourne Orphanage, Melbourne Family Care Organisation and Family Action. A history of services & policy development for families in times of vulnerability. Selina's Legacy: from VCAS to OzChildby historian Della Hilton, covers the history of the Victorian Children's Aid Society. Copies are available from our Head Office. |
