From its inception, OzChild has used the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child along with contemporary theories of child development, to provide the framework for service development and delivery. The value of the Convention is its focus on the whole child - the rights that need to be upheld to enable the full range of children's developmental needs to be met in a way which ensures they are able to meet their full potential. A developmental perspective recognises the importance of matching the way our services are provided with children's changing social, emotional and physical needs. This holistic approach is strongly endorsed through its mission to improve the well being and life chances of children. It is evident in the way we draw on the multidisciplinary professional expertise and practice wisdom of our staff working across a wide range of programs, the compassion, skills and dedication of our carers and volunteers and the support of our infrastructure team. Together every single member of OzChild works in their own way to protect and build better futures for our children. |
