‘Kinship' program launched

OzChild's commencement as a provider for the new model for Kinship Services was officially launched on 7 May at Doyle's in Mordialloc. We are proud that OzChild was able to make a significant contribution to the development of this model because of our unique experience in running a Kinship program for over twelve years. The Kinship team, lead by Lynne McCrae and Bronwyn Harrison is to be applauded for all the work undertaken in getting the expanded, new model up and running in a limited time frame.

Accreditation achieved

We are pleased to announce that OzChild has achieved accreditation as a Registered Training Organisation.  The scope of our Training and Consulting Services courses can now be broadened and conducted entirely through OzChild, leading to more career opportunities for young people.

OzChild has a history of helping children which dates back to 1851. Today, the organisation is continuing to build on this strong foundation, with around 170 staff and 500 volunteers.

We run multidisciplinary and culturally aware programs across a range of areas to strengthen the potential and life opportunities of Australian children. Services include foster care, kinship care, child and family support, disability, training and consulting, outreach servicesschool and community support and youth pathways.

Tannesha

Tannesha, aged 4, was living with her mother, Abby, who was dealing with mental health and drug abuse issues.  Abby was unable to provide a safe and stable home, and Tannesha was placed in out of home care.  Tannesha was traumatised by being placed out of her mother's care and became withdrawn and refused all food.
