Family Law Services at OzChild

Family Law Services

Family Law Services provide alternatives to the formal legal process for families who are separated, separating or in dispute to improve their relationships in the best interests of children. Services operate in the South West Region of Victoria and are funded through the Attorney-General’s Department and the Department of Social Services.

Warrnambool Family Relationship Centre
The Warrnambool Family Relationship Centre provides a child focused friendly family law service aimed at strengthening family relationships, supporting families facing relationship difficulties, and assisting families through separation. We focus on placing the needs of children first and supporting families with dispute resolution without going to court. We work with separated families to develop a more cooperative approach to parenting, and recognize the importance of children having a relationship with both parents, and extended family networks, wherever appropriate. Our Centre provides an inclusive service to meet the diverse needs of the family and the community. We offer a welcoming, non-judgmental and confidential environment with trained and experienced staff.

The Centre operates as an entry point to the family relationship service system across the South West of Victoria and can provide:

  • Family Advice and Consultation.
  • Family Dispute Resolution.
  • Referral to Family Relationship Programs and Services.
  • Information and Education.
  • Resource Centre: Internet and Phone access.

The Warrnambool centre is auspiced by OzChild and works in partnership with a range of professionals across the community services sector. The Centre also offers secondary consultation to allied professionals including general practitioners, teachers, counselling and religious practitioners who work with families.

We are located at 19 Jamieson Street (corner of Canterbury Road) Warrnambool. Parking on site (enter via Canterbury Road). After hours service by appointment only. Contact us by phone at 1300 661 790 or email wrpractitioners@ozchild.org.au.

Post Separation Cooperative Parenting (PSCP)
The Post Separation Cooperative Parenting services help separated parents who are in high conflict to learn how parental conflict affects children and how to focus on the needs of children. The program is aimed at both parents individually and is helpful even if only one parent attends. These services are located in regional areas and provide a short educational seminar, counselling and individual support as appropriate to each case.

The PSCP services are provided from the Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton and Camperdown office locations.

Further information on the program is available by calling us on 1300 361 680 or contacting us by email at wrpractitioner@ozchild.org.au.

Regional Family Dispute Resolution (RFDR)
Family Dispute Resolution Services assist families to reach agreement and to resolve their disputes related to family law issues which may include child and property related matters outside of the court system.

Family Dispute Resolution services provide early resolution of parenting arrangements post separation, ensuring the safety of parties where violence is disclosed, and that agreements are in the best interest of the children involved. Regional Family Dispute Resolution services may include counselling and community development activities as part of meeting the needs of separated families in their community.

The RFDR services are provided from the Warrnambool, Portland, Hamilton and Camperdown office locations.

Further information on the program is available by calling us on 1300 361 680 or contacting us by email at wrpractitioner@ozchild.org.au.
